Global Partners

We are part of the local and global community, working for peace and justice in our world.

Hands Together Mission in Haiti

Fr. Tom Hagan, founder of Hands Together Haitian Catholic Mission, spoke powerfully at The Basilica about his experiences living and working in Haiti. Hands Together sponsors schools, orphanages, elderly care facilities, hospices, and clinics.

Like so many, his home and Hands Together Guesthouse (their headquarters) were totally destroyed in the earthquake. Their orphanage and one school are still standing, but were damaged and are not safe. Everyone is living outside, and food and water are scarce.

To date, The Basilica community has collected $75,000 to help Fr. Hagan rebuild and continue the work of Hands Together. Several projects are in process, including:

  • establishing temporary operations base for Hands Together Mission
  • conducting daily medical clinics
  • delivering 4-5 truckloads of water daily to the Cite Soleil and Delmas
  • working with US military to distribute donated food and personal care packages
  • reconstructing Hands Together residence and schools

Together, we can make a difference. To help Hands Together Mission, make a donation online now.

Tiny Tim and Friends

Tiny Tim and Friends provides medical, nutritional and educational support to HIV infected orphans and vulnerable children of Zambia. Dr. Tim Meade, son of parishioners Tom and Betty Meade, lives and works in Lusaka, Zambia delivering medication and services directly to the orphanages and hospices most in need. Read the stories, and about the hope that has been offered by Tiny Tim and Friends.

This coalition works on education, advocacy and fund raising to help end the genocide in Darfur from a faith perspective. Join with other people of faith to work on a tragedy in our world community. They meet at Temple Israel every Thursday morning at 8:15am. For details, call 612.333.1381.
