Artists in Residence

Rose Ensemble

The Rose Ensemble is dedicated to strengthening the cultural life of its community by presenting virtuosic and dramatic performances of ancient music through innovative programming, educational outreach and scholarly research. Founded in 1996 by artistic director Jordan Sramek, The Rose Ensemble has enjoyed an artist residency at the Basilica of Saint Mary since 1997, and maintains an active schedule filled with performance and educational programs nationwide.

Called "young and daring," Rose Ensemble artists have received critical acclaim for their ability to sing both as an ensemble and as individual soloists, while director Jordan Sramek has been lauded for his adventurous and diverse programming. The Rose Ensemble is proud to have been nominated in 2000, 2001, and 2002 for a Minnesota Music Award for Best Classical Artist.

Basilica Schola Cantorum

The Basilica Schola Cantorum is a select group of nine to fourteen semi- professional singers whose primary responsibility is providing music for vespers services during the seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter and on other Feast days. For more information, contact Teri Larson.

VocalEssence Ensemble Singers

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, VocalEssence is recognized internationally as one of America's premier choral arts organizations. Under the enthusiastic leadership of Philip Brunelle, the 120-voice VocalEssence Chorus and the 32- voice VocalEssence Ensemble Singers are renowned for their innovative exploration of music for voices and instruments. In our 36th season, VocalEssence will inaugurate several noteworthy artistic partnerships, offer unique special events and present beautiful, dynamic concert experiences as we explore the music of America and beyond.

The Singers - Minnesota Choral Artists

A professional choral organization formed to impact the community with its presentation of choral music sung at the highest level of artistry. The Singers perform a wide- range of choral repertoire, commissioned new works and choral masterpieces. They are experienced professional choral artists with thirty of the forty members having formerly sung with the Dale Warland Singers.

Minnesota Sinfonia

The Minnesota Sinfonia was formed in the fall of 1989, as a professional, community-based chamber orchestra. Jay Fishman is the Artistic Director of the organization, and in that capacity is responsible for the development and quality of the music programs. When the Minnesota Sinfonia was created, the intent was to establish a top quality orchestra that would gear the majority of it's services to families, children, inner city youth, seniors, and those with limited incomes.

Currently, all of the musicians reside in the region, and more than half have been with the orchestra for ten years or longer. Many have played with Mr. Fishman for over twenty years! The orchestra's performance standard remains excellent, and according to the Star Tribune, "is easily on par with that of any Minnesota ensemble".
